Fall Is In The Air!

This week we had to say goodbye to Nana. We really had a great two weeks with her. We can't wait until she can come back again!
Jen enjoying her mom
The night before Nana left we got treated to a night out while Nana was babysitting.  The Q Restaurant just opened up in our building and we couldn't wait to try it out. It is a "Mongolian hotpot" restaurant. You get to choose from a variety of broths and cook your own entree (kind of like the Melting Pot). You can choose from seafood, beef, poultry and a variety of other choices. Of course they also have sushi-so we may be in trouble living in the same building!

Some of our entree. Yes that is octopus!
Tuesday night we had our monthly dinner for the fellows at The Helmand, an Afghan restaurant in Cambridge. An interesting piece of trivia......the owner of The Helmand, Mahmood Karzai, is the brother of current Afghan president Hamid Karzai. The food was really interesting and very good.
My favorite dish was Kaddo Bowrani. It is a baked pumpkin with yogurt and meat sauce. Yes I said meat sauce. While it may sound strange, it was fantastic! We will definitely be going back!
The highlight of this week was getting the proofs of Kenzie's pictures of course (see previous post). We can't wait until we get our album with all of the proofs. Now we must decide which pictures we want larger versions of!! We will begin accepting donations to help pay for them!

This morning we decided to take a walk down Charles Street to visit one of our favorite deli's, Savenor's. Charles Street is known as the "flat of the hill". It is in the Beacon Hill part of Boston and literally sits at the bottom of the very historic neighborhood. There are tons of interesting shops and restaurants on the street. It is a very popular place for tourists.
Jen and Kenzie ready to head out
Kenzie's first red nose! We had to bundle up this morning. It was around 50 degrees!

Here are a few images from Charles Street. One of my favorite places in Boston!
Typical brownstones. Love the history!

A great floral shop
A look up towards Beacon Hill. A great work out!
An interesting shop. If anyone needs any vintage doorknobs let me know!!
I really like the gas street lanterns
We finally made it to Savenor's to pick up some fresh vegetables.

A cheese lover's paradise
Thought this picture of Kenzie in the meat section would make Pops proud! She is a Harris after all!
Fall has always been my favorite season.
I miss my yard!
We had to be back in by 1:00 today because I'm on call this weekend. We are looking forward to next weekend when Danny and his fiancee Ashley Aaron are coming up. The following weekend Honey and Pops are coming so we have a great October to look forward to
Once again, I think we wore Kenzie out!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Ashley
