Just A Few Pictures

I haven't been taking as many pictures as I should lately as we have been so busy! We've had a lot of projects around the house and a lot of great company too! With the nice weather Kenzie's been spending more time outside- I think we'll have us quite the handy yard girl before too long!

This weekend we got to spend some time with Honey and Pops. Here's Honey reading with Kenzie about Gossie and her red boots. Pops even bought Kenzie her very own pair!
The weekend before we were really fortunate to have Nana and Pawpaw up to Tupelo for a few days. We were able to get so many projects done around the house with all of their help. We are so very fortunate to have such a wonderful, loving family!
Little Kenzie isn't so little anymore..... Check out our pigtails!
Aren't we growing up just a bit too fast?

Kirksey Comes to Visit! (and Katie and Richard too)

This weekend we were really fortunate to have the Heard crew in town for a visit from Memphis. Little Miss Kirksey is growing up very fast so it was great to see her. Oddly after the sun came up Saturday morning, the mothers disappeared and the daddy daycare began....
Kenzie invited Kirksey up to her home away from home for some playtime...
and some tea.
She also showed Kirksey how to water the flowers. I guess a little tea won't hurt them....
We couldn't avoid a little time out while learning a very important lesson about sharing-
The end result of a few hours of daddy daycare!
It was all business for Katie and Jennifer. Jennifer taught Katie about embroidery while Katie shared her expertise in sewing with Jen.
In just a few hours they made some really nice backpacks for Kenzie and Kirksey....
Kenzie's got to grow into her backpack a bit but isn't it great?
Jennifer prepared her world famous shrimp over pasta for dinner. It was fantastic as usual!
It was really nice catching up with Katie and Richard but the best part was watching Kenzie and Kirksey together. I hope they grow up to be great friends-
 Happy Valentine's Day!

Warm Weekend in Biloxi and Good Times in Jackson

This Monday I had a meeting down in Jackson so we were presented with a great opportunity to take a quick excursion down to Biloxi to visit family. We drove late Thursday night while little Miss was asleep- we've discovered that traveling at night is the way to go; it's quiet and peaceful and we actually get a chance to talk for awhile. With highs in the 70s and sunshine we hit the ground running on Friday morning. I've got a lot to cover so let's get started!
Kenzie had breakfast Gollott style!

Nana reinforcing Honey's canned whipped topping addiction-Kenzie doesn't stand a chance!
Kenzie enjoyed PawPaws satsumas...
some of them were spoiled so Kenzie got to throw them in the bayou with Nana.
It was definitely a spring teaser on the Coast.... the jasmine was in bloom!
Kenzie enjoyed the flowers too......

Later in the day we went over to Mawmaw and Pawpaw Jack's for a visit. They just happened to have some Mardi Gras beads for Kenzie

PawPaw Jack (Jennifer's grandfather) is an amazing craftsman. For many years now he's been making boats of all kinds from scratch. We actually have one of his boats in our study and it's one of our prized possessions. Many of his boats were lost, damaged, or destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. Since that time he's been rebuilding and here is his latest creation in progress....

some of his other boats...

Did I mention that it felt like spring?
Look how many blooms we'd already missed!
Jen's grandparents lost most of their china and pottery during Hurricane Katrina. Jennifer was able to save some of the broken pieces and we used them to make a mosaic table top. Every time I see it it brings back a lot of memories of what everyone went through down in Mississippi,Louisiana, and Alabama. I'm also amazed at how much progress they've made in the last several years!
Jen's other grandmother Mable recently suffered a fall that thankfully didn't result in any broken bones. She's getting physical therapy in the hospital so we made a trip over to Pascagoula to visit. Four generations in one photo-
Kenzie blowing kisses and brightening up the day for some patients...
Outside the hospital there was a pretty pond with tons of geese and ducks. Kenzie was able to get up close and personal with Aunt Kathy.
She even got to touch a turtle!
Kenzie insisted on leaving the hospital with a souvenir!

Afterwards it was time for some fun at the beach and a local park-

Peeking through the playground equipment....

Back at home Aunt Amber and Uncle Stephen gave us an early Valentine's day present. What a great place to read a book!
Our last evening was spent at a restaurant owned by some of Jennifer's family.
No further commentary necessary!
Sunday we left out for Jackson to meet up with the family at Uncle Danny and Aunt Ashley's apartment for the Superbowl. We got to make a quick pit stop in Flowood and have lunch with some good friends, Dr. Lynch and his wife Varie. Dr. Lynch was one of my neuroanatomy professors and is currently serving as chairman of the anatomy department at UMC (he's also one of the smartest people I know). It was really wonderful to get to catch up with them after all this time!
Honey and Pops, Babe and Gran made it to Danny and Ashley's for the Superbowl so we had a full house...

Monday after my meeting we got to do some shopping. Here's Kenzie modeling the latest in toddler fashion-
We really had a great time playing with our shadows-
Kenzie just couldn't figure out how to get her shadow unstuck from the bottom of her shoes!
As we were leaving Jackson we got to have dinner with some old friends, Scott and Valerie and their son Tanner. We didn't get to meet their newborn daughter Annie Kate yet but we're looking forward to it on our next visit.
Kenzie and Tanner bonded over electronics-

Whew! Guess I'm not the only one who's tired. Kenzie passed out on the drive home with her hand in the goldfish bowl! We had a great time with family and friend and I can't wait to do it again!
