Labor Day Weekend

Thank goodness for holidays! I have been greatly anticipating a three day weekend with the family. Danny traveled to Boston to spend the weekend with us. After Hurricane Earl blew through Friday night, some beautiful weather moved in. With highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s, it was just perfect. We had a lot of fun walking around the city. Here are a few highlights from our weekend of walking.

The grave of Mother Goose, Sam Adams and Benjamin Franklin's parents

One of the great things about living in Boston is the history. It is fascinating living among the places you learn about in American history class. Below is the Old State House which served as the seat of the British Empire before the Revolutionary War. It was the first capital building of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Declaration of Independence was first read to the people from its balcony (shown in the picture). Each year the Declaration is read from the balcony in honor of the founding of our country. The Boston Massacre took place right outside the front door.

"One if by land, two if by sea!" The image below is the steeple of the Old North Church where the lanterns were hung in 1775 to signal that the British were coming.

Some scenes from the beautiful gardens of the Boston Commons, about a block from our apartment.

I think Danny had a great time too as evidenced by this picture of him outside the Bell in Hand Tavern.

Of course the star of the weekend was Kenzie. She got lots of looks while walking around this weekend!
