Spring (and lots of pollen) is in the Air!!

Well regardless of what the calendar says I think it is officially Spring (even though it feels more like summer)! The warmer weather has us busy around here so I'll try to cover some of the things we've been up to lately. A few weeks ago Kenzie's cousin Pax had his 3rd birthday party and we made a quick stop in Water Valley on the way. Spending some time with Pops.....
Playing airplane.....
My grandmother's both have beautiful yards and a great variety of interesting plants. This particular plant with very soft leaves is known colloquially as "Camper's Friend". Reportedly the super soft leaves can be used during a camper's time of need if no toilet paper is available (thus the name). I have never personally verified these claims and certainly hope that I am never in a situation where I must!
We left with a whole load of fresh produce!
Pax's party was fantastic and it was wonderful spending time with family. Here is Kenzie looking on as Pax blows out his candles. Hats off to Pax's mom Tanya for all of her hard work!
The entire crew in the midst of a major sugar rush. Amazingly some skilled moms were able to get them all on the couch at once!
Kenzie took advantage of the opportunity to play with some heavy equipment.
After the party, Pax took Kenzie for a ride in his luxury SUV.
Please no comments about future dating or riding in cars with boys, etc... I just can't go there yet! Pax was quite a gentleman and even opened the car door for Kenzie.
Honey was off for spring break so she came up and spent some time with us. Here is Kenzie with a monkey on her back looking at the monkeys at the Buffalo Park. (Disclaimer: the monkey on Kenzie's back is not real)
This weekend Katie and Kirksey came to visit while Richard suffered through a weekend of GI call in Memphis.
Friday evening was spent at the "Second Annual 'Don't Be Cruel' Barbecue Duel". There were nearly 90 competitors, the food was great, and the weather was fantastic.

One tough thing about this age, one look away and they're gone!
You think these two are having some fun?
Katie and Jen spent the weekend working on their latest sewing project. They decided to make dresses- no simple task!
Honey came and spent the weekend and served as an amazing babysitter while the ladies worked. It was also her Birthday weekend and Jen made a banana coconut upside down cake. We had to play with Honey just a bit with the candles (she is in her VERY EARLY 50s and nowhere near 60) and yes I obtained permission to post that!
Blowing out the candles.....
The final product.....pretty amazing huh?
....being modeled by Kenzie
With spring here we've been spending more time in the yard. Kenzie is helping me with my flower beds for sure-
Here she is doing the gone thing again.....(and this time towards a road!)
She really is a great help.... and quite strong too!
The hard work is starting to pay off as the yard is shaping up...still much to be done.
Here's a couple more great pictures of Kenzie to wrap things up.

Have a great week and enjoy the weather!
Ashley
