A Great Week!
We really had a great time with Kathy and Amber while they were here with us. Here's a great picture of Aunt Amber with Kenzie....
And here is a picture of Kenzie "enjoying" story time with Aunt Kathy!
We were really sad when Aunt Kathy and Amber left....we can't wait for them to come back! Here's a few more pics of their stay-
The group at Vapiano's, a local Italian restaurant |
Kathy and Amber took the "Duck Tour". A boat/bus that drives around the city and into the Harbor! |
We were lucky that Mrs Peg (Nana) got to stay another week. Jennifer and Kenzie have really been enjoying their time with her.
Earlier this week they got to walk down to the Boston Farmer's Market....here's a couple of pics of the market.....
Jen and Kenzie back at home after a day on the town......
Kenzie might just be starting the teething process. She is drooling continuously and likes to chew on everything including Nana's hand!!
Here's another great picture of Kenzie and Jennifer....
Today we got to visit a beautiful place, the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. You can read more about it here...

Dad and Kenzie before our trip |
Just a few hints of fall in the leaves I think..... |
The Arnold Arboretum was founded in the 1800s after a large gift of land to Harvard University. It is located in the Jamaica Plain/Roslindale area of Boston. There are nearly 250 acres of beautiful trees and landscaping. Each plant is tagged with it's name, country of origin and approximate age. We had a lot of fun walking around (just a small part) of the park.
Here are a few more pictures......
Here are a few more pictures......
Hard to believe this is in the Boston city limits! |
How old do you think this Bonsai tree is?
How about 273 years!!
If you don't believe me here is the proof-it was planted in 1737!
Have you all noticed that Kenzie gets to eat in some beautiful places?
After the Arboretum, Nana and Jennifer got to go to Wicked at the Boston Opera House.
Jennifer and Mrs. Peg in front of the theatre |
The Boston Opera House was built in 1928 and restored and reopened in 1980. It is two blocks from our apartment!
Jen took a few shots from inside the theatre...pretty impressive!!!!
The amazing ceiling |
The entryway |
After the show (which they said was awesome) we all had Vietnamese carry out from Pho Pasteur-right next door to our apartment
Well that just about wraps up another great week! Jen snapped this shot of Kenzie hanging on to Dad's finger....
And one last shot of Kenzie for the road-
See you all next week!

Visitors!!
We are really excited to have family visiting this week. Jennifer's Mom, Aunt Kathy and sister-in-law Amber came in early Thursday morning. We have really been enjoying their company. While they may say they came up to see me and Jennifer we all know why they are here......to see Kenzie!
We started off by walking around the city to see a few of our favorite places.....
The public gardens were founded in 1837 as the first planned botanical gardens in the United States of America.
Here are some beautiful pictures from our walk......
Faneuil Hall has been a marketplace and a meeting hall since 1742. It was the site of several speeches by Samuel Adams, James Otis, and others encouraging independence from Great Britain, and is now part of Boston National Historical Park and a well known stop on the Freedom Trail. It is sometimes referred to as "the Cradle of Liberty". Courtesy of Wikipedia.
Kenzie had to have a bath after a long day in the city....
With pictures like this I can't really blame them!
I took a couple of days off so I could spend some time with everyone-
We started off by walking around the city to see a few of our favorite places.....
Starting out the day just outside our apartment |
Notice the jackets- it was about 65 degrees when we left out in the morning.
We had to walk through one of the most beautiful places in Boston, the public gardens.

View of Boston skyline from public gardens |
The lake has numerous pedal powered "Swan Boats". These boats are nearly 130 years old and were made famous in the children's book "Make Way for Ducklings". |
We also walked down Charles Street. One of the oldest and most historic streets in Boston. It's lined with great antique shops, boutiques and restaurants
Kathy enjoying a fresh pastry after lunch |
We ended the day with a walk down to Faneuil Hall also known as Quincy Market-
Picture obtained online because mine didn't turn out! |
There are hundreds of shops, restaurants and street performers surrounding Faneuil Hall. Kenzie was very excited to be serenaded by a very talented singer!
We finished off the afternoon with some great seafood including scallops and lobster. Below you can see Mrs. Peg enjoying the day's catch!!
Me, Amber and Kenzie with Faneuil Hall in the background |
After just a few minutes in Nana's arms, Kenzie was out for the night!
Just had to add this great picture of Nana and Kenzie. I think they are enjoying each other....
More to come later including Wicked, Little Italy and more Lobster!!
Will update soon,
Ashley

New Bedford, MA
This weekend was an exciting one to say the least. Since Kenzie was born we've been waiting to have some formal pictures by a professional photographer. We were lucky to find a great photographer in New Bedford, MA, Michelle Carr.
You can see her website here:
http://michellecarrphotography.com/main/index2.php
Here is a picture of her awesome studio:
New Bedford is about an hour from Boston so we made a day of it. Some may remember that New Bedford is the meeting place of Ishmael and Queequeg in "Moby-Dick". It served as one of the most important whaling ports in the world in the 1800s (courtesy of Wikipedia). The city had some really beautiful Victorian style homes that we had to take some pics of:
After the photo shoot, we went to a great seafood restaurant right on the "working dock"
Kenzie got a little hungry too- Jennifer has become pretty creative with the subtle feeding technique (picture posted with her permission!!!!!)
We also got to walk around downtown for the 2010 "Chowder Festival". We even got to check out the local Lobster races but unfortunately the Lobster we bet on didn't win!
All of the walking and picture taking got Kenzie pretty tired. One last shot with Dad
and then..................
Until next week,
Ashley
